Immaculate Conception Convent, Main Street and Washington Street, Oldenburg, IN Built between 1889 and 1901, this large Romanesque Revival-style complex was designed by Oscar Bohlen, the son of Diedrich A. Bohlen, to serve as the Immaculate Conception Convent, housing the Sisters of St. Francis.  The building features a red brick exterior, hipped roof with gables featuring gable parapets, arched windows with limestone headers, a tower above the front entrance with a pyramidal hipped roof, arched four-over-four double-hung windows, and ionic pilasters, a front porch with ionic columns, an entrance door with an arched decorative glass transom and decorative glass sidelights, a rough-hewn stone base, gabled dormers, and replacement one-over-one windows.  The convent has had several rear additions, all of which feature red brick exteriors, but vary in style and character.  The building is a contributing structure in the Oldenburg Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
