The USS Joseph Strauss is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer named after Vice Admiral Joseph Strauss. It is the second ship of the United States Navy to honor him. The USS Joseph Strauss was commissioned in 2000 and has served in various capacities for the US Navy since then.

The ship is 505 feet long, with a beam of 66 feet and a draft of 31 feet. It has a displacement of 9,200 tons and is powered by four gas turbines that propel it to a speed of 30 knots. The USS Joseph Strauss carries a complement of over 300 officers and crew.

The ship is equipped with two 5-inch guns, two Phalanx close-in weapon systems, two Sea Sparrow missile launchers, two torpedo tubes, two helicopters and a variety of other weapons. The ship also carries a variety of sensors, communication and navigation equipment, as well as a hangar and flight deck to support helicopter operations.

The USS Joseph Strauss is currently homeported at Naval Station Everett in Washington, and is assigned to Destroyer Squadron 9. It has taken part in numerous operations and exercises, including Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Operation Iraqi Freedom and several others. The ship has won several awards, including the Navy Unit Commendation and the Battle Efficiency Award.
