MICHIGAN CITY HISTORICAL SOCIETY INCORPORATED OLD LIGHTHOUSE

MICHIGAN CITY, IN

35 My 35th National Park but I am not sure I really found it. I went to the Visitor Center and I certainly passed a National Park sign but then I found myself paying to enter a state park. I scampered up "the devil's slide" which is a 100ft or so sand dune on the shore of Lake Michigan. Then I left to find some real parts of the National Park and I know I must have been in it as there were park signs but all I found was a gated community and a steel mill that belched out foul pollution and made me cough. This was not a normal National Park. But it counts.

(I had about an hour to spare at the park as I was on a work trip and just detoured here on my way to the airport so I didn't get much time to really figure out what it was about).
