Washington County Veterans Memorial Inc., located in Salem, Indiana, is a non-profit organization that honors and remembers the brave men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces. The memorial was established in 2010 and is dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of Washington County Veterans, past, present and future. The memorial consists of a large granite monument with a black granite base, a bronze sculpture of a soldier, and the names of fallen Washington County veterans. The monument is surrounded by a circular walkway with benches and a flagpole, and is illuminated at night. The memorial includes a granite wall with the names of all Washington County veterans who served in any branch of the United States military. It also includes a special tribute to the veterans who lost their lives in service to their country. The memorial is free and open to the public, and hosts numerous events throughout the year, including a Memorial Day Observance, a Veterans Day Observance, and a Remembrance Walk. Washington County Veterans Memorial Inc. is a reminder that the sacrifices of Washington County veterans are never forgotten.
