The Michiana Jewish Historical Society Inc. (MJHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in South Bend, Indiana. Established in 1985, MJHS strives to preserve and promote a greater understanding of the Jewish experience in Michiana -- an area encompassing the South Bend/Mishawaka metropolitan area, as well as the nearby counties of LaPorte, St. Joseph, and Elkhart.

MJHS is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting artifacts and archival materials related to the Jewish experience in Michiana. To this end, they have established a museum featuring permanent and rotating exhibits on local Jewish history and culture. Additionally, MJHS offers a variety of educational and cultural programs, including lectures, book discussions, and film screenings.

The organization is managed by a Board of Directors, comprised of local Jewish community members and volunteers. The Board oversees MJHS’s operations, including fundraising, public relations, and the development of new initiatives.

MJHS is committed to connecting its members to the rich and vibrant history of the Michiana Jewish community, and to making the organization’s resources available to the public. Through its exhibits, programs, and activities, MJHS seeks to educate and engage both members of the Jewish community and the broader public in the history and culture of the Michiana area.
