The Scottsdale Model Railroad Historical Society (SMRHS) is an organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of model railroading in Scottsdale, Arizona. The SMRHS was founded in 1999 and is a nonprofit organization that is open to both model railroaders and the general public. The SMRHS operates several model railroad layouts at their facility in Scottsdale, AZ. These layouts range from large scale, to N scale, and even a train simulator.

The SMRHS also hosts a variety of events throughout the year including clinics, workshops, and even special events like the annual “Trainfest”. Trainfest is an event that features a variety of model railroads and vendors from around the area. Attendees can participate in clinics, visit with vendors, and even ride on a real live steam locomotive.

The SMRHS also offers a variety of classes and workshops throughout the year. These include introductory classes on model railroading and more advanced classes on the construction of model railroad structures. There are also special classes offered for children who are interested in getting started in model railroading.

In addition to classes and workshops, the SMRHS also provides a variety of resources to model railroaders. These resources include a library of model railroad books, magazines, and videos. They also have a research and reference center which contains information about railroad history, model railroad scale and size standards, and other related topics. Finally, the SMRHS offers an online store where model railroaders can purchase model train supplies and accessories.

The SMRHS is dedicated to preserving and promoting model railroading in the Scottsdale area. Through their events, classes, and resources, they provide an invaluable service to model railroaders both young and old.
