New moon blocks the sun Here's one of my basic images of the solar eclipse as I looked straight up. Simple. Straightforward. The sun and moon later would reach roughly 3 minutes of totality at Mascatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, Indiana. During the high noon event, a paddling of mallards became quiet and then disappeared in the pond behind me. I assume to rest for the brief night.

In my mind these rare celestial events are educational or spiritual so I'll get fancy with my images of the eclipse event and surroundings at a later date (composite, etc.) to convey that.
